I just got Mass Effect 2 and I can't decide on which class to play as. I haven't played Mass Effect 1 so I'm not sure if the classes are similar or whatever or what's good...
There's the solider, vanguard, sentinel, adept, infiltrator, and engineer.
I started as infiltrator but I am not far enough in to not be able to start over...
What do you think?

That's like me asking people what flavour of ice cream I should choose.
Play whatever you want to.

Soldier is basic and ends up with most defense.
But let me tell you, right now, if you haven't played ME1, ME2 is not as good.
As my friend said it's like watching one of the new Star wars movies before the first ones. It may be a good movie, but it's made so much better by the first one. Go get ME1 for free by downloading it or something. One of the best games ever and ME2 lives up to the first.
Do it for the story
Also, vanguard for normal/hardcore, soldier for insane. Infeltrator is meh, good against lots of mechs/robots, but really kinda useless beyond that. Vanguard is good for beginners.

No problem mate. About 40-50% through my insane (second) playthrough, so tell me if ya need anything. I'm also a ME1 expert (see gamerscore) so ask away about that too.
Be warned, the universe can be overwhelming at first. They throw planets and names and races and info and guns and people and groups and ships and allll that stuff at you and it's a bit daunting till you start to make sense of it.

That sounds great - I love games you can immerse yourself in.
Although I'm having trouble putting down MW2 haha. I only have gotten about 30 minutes into ME2 so far because of MW2.
PS. 1200/1200 on ME1? That's impressive man.

If you've played the first one then you'll know what are the pro's and con's of each class. No offense, but I can write out every known scenario I've experienced upon experimentation with the first mass effect, but I'm not going to. So, if you really don't know what's what. Go here
http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_Wiki And weigh the pro's and con's and see which one suits your style of maraudering the universe. But I can point you in the right direction.
Two things to keep in mind. You can beat the game with all of them, Some are cooler than others So If you like to barrier yourself from all bullets, and lift enemies in the air, and fry their guns, don't go fully adept, Because of course with biotics, and just about every type of weaponry theres a cool down period. Your going to find yourself needing that pistol. So Id say go Sentinel. If you like doing it the right way, go full on soldier. You can specialize in heavy armor, damage protection, better control over your squad, and marksmen abilities in all weapon classes. Good stuff.
But here's what I normally do. I go infiltrator. The sniper is a one shot kill, long range, and with a consistently updated pistol you'll have no problem, moving fast, and being effective. Also the infiltrator can master all tech based tasks, leading to greater upgrades, armors, and intel. And with your tech skills, your squads tech strength will be strong, with just one soldier who specializes in tech skills. So their leaves room for a soldier who is rather strong in combat, so you get the best of both worlds.
I hope this helps.

Elevators you will learn to love. I miss them in ME2
Where do you need to go in the Presidium?
Get money by selling unneeded stuff
And omni-gel can be used for failed hacking attempts/repairing the mako.

Ahhh....
Well that helps....the game is just so slow in the beginning.
I hope it picks up....it just takes so long to get any action....any suggestions for a level 7.
SHould I stick to story line or venture off to uncharted worlds and explore?

Explore! If ME is a true RPG then venturing off and exploring can be nothing but rewarding.

Ill give it another shot. But I think im gonna level up a bit and get some better armor and guns...
Whats a good way to get money?....and How do i increase my electronics skill.
I tried to do something with some debris I found on a planet...I dont remember the name, but theere were monkey looking creatures on it. but it said my override skill was too low
Scp121

Electronics cannot be increased unless you're an engineer/engi combo class. If you really need to get something done, bring a tech person (Tali or Garrus) along to override it.
Money is gained by selling shit you don't need.

The game starts off with a bang, hits a slow point, then picks up a nice, steady pace. Give it a few hours.

If you want out quick, run through the storyline. Become a Spectre and then you're free to do whatever.

I think i am already a spectre....i became one after proving that Saren was a total doucher?...is this right?....any suggestions for fun battles/planets to visit.?

Feb 4 2010, 02:21 PM
Yes, after you prove Saren is a lieing sumbitch, you become a specter. Go to C-sec to get to your ship.
Also, dude, just explore. That's the fun of it. 50+ planets you can mess with. Go go go!
